PERFORMANCE PROGRAM (Voice and Piano):
1. Category A (10 FULL SCHOLARSHIP students for each piano and voice division): Active Participants, Young Musicians / Young Artists (up to 35 years of age for pianists or 45 years of age for singers)
- DVD or CD submission, letters of recommendations, and / or live auditions are required
- Possible select group of full scholarship students
- Active performer in two public faculty masterclasses
- Receiving a total of two piano lessons / coachings by faculty – and practice session observation
- Attending all events, lectures, performances, and masterclasses by faculty / guest artists
- Performing in student recitals
- Participants under the age of 16 must come with a guardian / parents, and must notify the festival about such arrangements.
- Additional Piano lessons / coachings by faculty possibly by request and appointment, and for an additional fee (subject to availability)
2. Category B (20 per division): Active Participants, Observers, Performance Track (Young Artists – no age limit)
- Receiving a total of two piano lessons / coachings by faculty – and practice session observation
- Observing / attending all events, lectures, performances, and masterclasses by faculty / guest artists
- Possible performances in recitals or masterclasses, upon faculty approval during the festival’s duration
- Additional Piano lessons / coachings by faculty possibly by request and appointment, and for an additional fee (subject to availability)
3. Category C (unlimited number): Piano / Music Teachers / General Education Teachers
- Observing / attending all events, lectures, performances, and masterclasses by faculty / guest artists
- Attending special teachers / education lecture events
- Piano lessons / coachings by faculty possibly by request and appointment, and for an additional fee (subject to schedule / availability)
4. Category D (unlimited number): Observers, Music Lovers
- Piano lessons / coachings by faculty possibly by request and appointment, and for an additional fee (subject to schedule / availability)
- Observing / attending all events, lectures, performances, and masterclasses by faculty / guest artists
COMPOSITION PROGRAM:
Young Composer Workshop Program: 3 highly selective young composers will be chosen as main participant, and unlimited number of composer-auditors or general public. These students will be:
- Composing a new work prior to coming to the festival, for solo piano, piano duet 4-hands, or for soprano-piano, or tenor-piano, or baritone-piano, or soprano-baritone-piano combination.
- These participants will meet daily throughout the festival with Category A student performers to revise the piece, as well as coach / direct students to prepare the work to be performed at the conclusion of the festival.
- There will be daily seminars / master class sessions hosted by Slamet Abdul Sjukur, Joshua Saulle, and attended by all composer participants to discuss these young composers’ works in great detail
CONDUCTING PROGRAM:
Conducting Apprenticeship Program: 2 highly selective young conductors will be chosen as main participant, to work closely with Dr. Nathan Leaf throughout the festival, to prepare for the choir’s final performance. Unlimited number of auditors and general public are welcome to observe.
